Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy Named Best Practices Insurance Agency

Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy, Inc. of New Hartford has been named to an elite group of insurance agencies identified by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) as employing the best business practices in the industry.

The selection means that Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy’s operations including its procedures, growth, productivity, profitability and financial stability have been reviewed, documented for excellence and are serving as models for other insurance agencies to adopt. It is one of only 10 agencies in New York State to be so honored.

Each year IIABA and Regan Consulting, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm, team up to study the country’s leading insurance agencies in six revenue categories.  Agencies awarded the Best Practices designation are chosen following a comprehensive nomination and qualifying process.

Best Practices agencies retain their status for a three-year period by submitting extensive financial and operational data for review annually.

Founded in 1904, Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy is one of Central New York’s largest independent insurance agencies and provides a full range of insurance products and services - including employee benefits, risk management and financial services - to businesses and individuals throughout the region. The IIABA was founded in 1896 and is the nation’s oldest and largest national association of independent agents and brokers, representing a network of more than 300,000 agents, brokers and their employees. The Best Practices study program was initiated in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance.
